As railway-ers we tend to think of Listers as lightweight 2' gauge industrial locos, but I'll bet they sold more of these. I'm not sure how big the engine is, but it can't be more than 10hp. Pre-fork lifts, depots would have a couple of these chugging around - possibly with a trailer or two. I seem to remember them in the sorting office carrying mailbags.
This preserved example shot at Tenterden station a decade ago.
Lovely. I keep looking at these on eBay and then reminding myself I have too many other projects.
ReplyDeleteThey're on ebay???? Wow.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if that is a proper term for them, but Roy Link says they were built as "internal works transport". Good timing you posting that ... got any pics of the Rail version to go with it? Despite being to Amberley several times including the Lister gala a couple of years back, I don't seem to have any good photos!
ReplyDeleteOur cricket club's roller has a Lister diesel engine, very similar to those in their narrow gauge locos. We think it'll run forever!
