Lines

Does anyone know what's going on here? The first in Cambridge, the second in central London. Literal instruction following to the length of stupidity.

  1. Not sure about the first, but for the second I think they've dug a hole in the road, and when they've replaced the tarmac they've only added the white lines to the new bit. Given how faded the old bit was I'm surprised they didn't just re-line the whole section though.

    1. You think that's bad, but at least it's usable. For a really bad cycle lane try this one near where I work in Sheffield (I don't have a photo but Street View does a good job of illustrating it) http://goo.gl/maps/r01TU

What's really odd is that the cycle lane was added after the main road and barrier were already in place!

  3. Hmmm...I wonder if those little yellow lines in the first photo are purely advisory, or whether Rita the Meter Maid would issue a ticket if one's car shaded them...
