Superquick time

Haven't done one of these for  a while.

If I could pinpoint a time when I shifted from trainset to railway modelling it would probably a Superquick kit; possibly even this one, the A07 goods shed. Only it isn't. At first glance you think it's the same, but the colours are slightly different; a distinct Southern green tinge rather than a GWR brown. There are also more platform bits included which I may omit for old times sake. The roof is just plonked at the moment and there is some light upgrading to do. Other than that, it's great fun and a real Saturday afternoon project.

Anyone for a complete Superquick branchline terminus layout?

  1. The Garage is my favourite, along with the village school and market house. Other though, still make me cringe remembering the cliched layouts of my childhood when the same building appeared on so many layouts.

    1. I feel the same way about the early Wills kits, especially the grotty huts & privy. Great kits in their own right, but something of a cliche. That won't stop me using them on the next layout tho'.

  2. I had pretty much the same progression, the Dock Authority Shunter and wagons traded for the wreckage of my early childhood trains soon needed some buildings, and Superquick were available in at least 2 shops in Hastings. Pretty sure there was a goods shed, but I soon worked my way up to the grand terminus station building, which became Bexhill West in my mind. Then I discovered Prototype Models kits, Xacto knives, and cut fingers...

    1. PS: a few years ago, I gathered most of the bits to build a "period" layout to run the Tri-ang stuff on; no Superquick kits, but the red stone and blue brick papers are wonderful stuff!

  3. There is a lot to be said for a "Nostalgiabahn" and Superquick could feature largely in it. I well remember moving house, late 1960's and my father buying a layout from a fellow shop keeper, my firs intro to SuperQuick. That and visits to Brighton's Model Aerodrome. Simpler happy days!
