Shamelessly lifted from Steve's 3mm blog who obviously shares my dislike of rucksacks. These items should only be used when walking in the country and not to carry mummy-made sandwiches to exhibitions.
As a backpack owner, I am amazed that every pack I've owned has had a handle on the top for carrying it around crowded areas, such as exhibitions, but I am THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD WHO HAS WORKED THIS OUT.
