Into Brighton today on the usual 313. Only something odd. Not the usual GiTRail green and grubby white, but something that looks remarkably like unlettered and unbranded BR blue/grey. No company name, just the numbers. Will they get the double arrow logo? I hope so.
It's been like this for a few months now...as far as I know, there are no plans to reinstate the double arrows, more's the pity.
ReplyDeleteIt was done to celebrate 40 years of the 313s and it looks like they'll be around on Southern for a few years yet; at least until the end of the current franchise in 2021.
I briefly saw it at Hastings the other day.
The double arrows won't go away...the symbol is still copyright of the DfT and persists on maps and signs as it has become the recognised symbol for a railway station.
I met a guard on the Bedford-Bletchley line a few weeks ago who has had a few lanyards made up with the new franchise name but with the double arrows in a red box as used on road signs etc. instead of the TOC logo...while it's popular with both local staff and management, it can't be adopted officially due to the copyright thing. Shame.
