Dury's Gap in Railway. Modeller

It's been a long time coming, but Dury's Gap has eventually made it into print in this month's RM, tucked away in the Junior Modeller section. Regulars are probably sick of it as it's been used extensively as a photo backdrop on many of the things that I've built regardless of whether they have been OO gauge or not.

It is still extant and available for one day exhibitions.

  1. Nice article. Gilly was very taken with it too. I was a bit confused by its placement in "RM Explored", but I guess the angle of a simple, relatively cheap to build, small layout fits and will hopefully inspire others to have a go at something similar.
I still can't work out why I've never really tried (other than a repainted Hornby E2, a very second-hand brass Birdcage coach and a few Ratio wagon kits when I was about 14) to build an SR-based model, despite (or is it because
of) living and now working (I use the term loosely) on it.
Could only spot the tension locks and FB points because I knew they were there...just goes to show how little these things matter in reality. An R1 would be nice, though playing Devil's advocate, so would a 16XX or a very early Class 24!
Coincidentally, I found a pack of VariGirder while sorting through stuff yesterday and I see you've used some on Morton Stanley's water tank too...so that'll be going in the 7mm NG box.
    Stig.
